Scope of Project:
The project involved the construction of a new two story middle school for the Edmonds School District. The facility houses up to 750 students and includes classrooms, science rooms, an open commons area, main & auxiliary gym, administrative & support area, library, food service area, and band area. Unique features include naturally ventilated commons area, daylighting control and automated shading systems. The project was divided into two phases with the first phase consisting of the gymnasiums and locker rooms and the second phase consisting of the main building. The first phase completed in the summer of 2010 and the second phase completed in summer of 2011.
SMI Commissioning & Consulting LLC provided Commissioning Authority services for this project working for the Edmonds School District. SMI performed design reviews, held design intent clarification meetings, provided scheduling and coordination for equipment installation & startup, witnessed equipment startup, wrote and performed functional performance tests and assisted with the troubleshooting and resolution of mechanical and electrical issues for the systems described above.
