Scope of Project:
The project included the design and construction of a new single story structure that houses a new SOF Aviation Battalion Dining Facility. The building consists of a main dining area off the main entrance with direct access to servery, private dining, and restrooms. All the dining facility support services are distributed around the servery; consisting of offices, kitchen, food storage, washing stations, mechanical, electrical, receiving, and loading platform on the north side exterior. On the west side of the building is a carry-out order/serving area and carry-out kitchen accessible from a dedicated west building entrance. The project is a design-build project with the final objective to obtain LEED Silver qualification.

Services Provided:
SMI Commissioning provided Commissioning Authority services for this project working for the General Contractor, Vet Industrial. SMI performed design reviews, held design intent clarification meetings, provided scheduling and coordination for equipment installation & startup, witnessed equipment startup, wrote and performed functional performance tests and assisted with the troubleshooting and resolution of mechanical and electrical issues. Building envelope performance verification testing was also provided. Upon project completion a building pressurization thermal imaging IR-scan of the building was performed to verify satisfactory building air leakage requirements were met and to pinpoint any building envelope problems which may need attention.
